The Abgenix (Amgen) facility project involved design assistance and construction of a 100,000 square-foot, Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-validated manufacturing and fill facility located in Silicon Valley. The facility was designed to produce monoclonal antibodies with a suite for cell culture, purification and filling. This bulk-production facility runs campaigned products on concurrently running dual lines. Cupertino Electric assisted with the design of the facility and installed the electrical systems. This specific manufacturing project involved the installation of a back-up system based on Hitec technology. Boehringer Ingelheim purchased the facility from Amgen in 2011.
