Two years after putting its data center on hold, real estate investment trust company DuPont Fabros Technology (www.dft.com) re-engaged Cupertino Electric in to design and build a multi-phase data center in the heart of Silicon Valley. Designed to LEED Silver certification standards, this new construction project is a 360,000 gross-square-foot, Tier 4 data center facility. The CEI-designed and -engineered data center features 176,200 square-feet of raised floor, 16 2.25 megawatt (MW) generators, and eight 1650 kW rotary-powered and uninterrupted power supplies (UPS). The facility is capable of a total aggregate critical load of 36.4 MW, delivering 100 watts per square-foot. The facility has multiple major fiber carriers on site and benefits from the area’s most competitive power rates. Cupertino Electric completed the project in fourteen months.
