Cupertino Electric completed electrical design and construction work on this 220,000 square-foot, two-story data center with 120,000 square-feet of raised floor for a national healthcare provider in Napa Valley for General Contractor DPR Construction, Inc. (DPR). Constructed in phases, the data center was designed to house the electronic medical records of millions of patients so that the records would be instantly accessible online. The mission-critical nature of the project involved an aggressive schedule with a hard stop date, which were both met by our team.
The scope of the design/build data center project required Cupertino Electric's project team to install and parallel three 1500 kW and two 2000 kW generators and twelve (12) 750 kVA UPS modules with static system control cabinets; recircuit twenty (20) existing PDUs under load; and install new 8,000A parallel switchgear and 4,000A main switchboards. The data center remained fully operational and active throughout our work at the site. This required considerable coordination and flexibility of the electricians on site. The team safely performed 9,679 individual Critical Facilities Work Authorization (CFWA) steps as part of the data floor build-out, power expansion project and commissioning.
