In the midst of the COVID pandemic in 2020, Cupertino Electric donated materials and in-kind construction services to Sacred Heart Nativity School in San Jose valued at more than $66,000 to make the school more energy efficient so that energy bills would decrease and student need spending would increase. The upgrades included installing more than 160 LED fixtures in classrooms, hallways and offices, along with upgrading the school’s lighting control system and exterior entrance lights. Given the school’s focus on serving students from lower-income communities where the average family income is $30,000, the CEI employees working on the project were honored to volunteer their time. Project Engineer David Nunez said, “[O]ur team was absolutely inspired to help upgrade this facility where these children have access to a better education. It is great knowing that CEI’s service will help reduce the burden of monthly electrical bills that the school can now use for its students.”
