When the tribal leaders behind Thunder Valley Casino wanted to build a 275,000-square-foot casino that rivaled the amenities of a Las Vegas-based resort, they looked to Cupertino Electric for their electrical engineering and construction needs. Seven years later, Cupertino Electric was brought on-board again when the casino was ready to expand and add a new 294-room hotel, a 1.4 million square foot parking garage and central plant to the site while the casino remained fully operational.
The casino features slot machines, a gift shop, a food court, three full-service restaurants, a remote fire station, administrative offices and a new high-rise hotel. The massive site also includes 42 acres of parking and a new seven-story parking garage. To power the casino, a first central plant fed 21,000 volts to the facility. A second central plant was built in 2010 and was tied to the first plant in parallel.
During initial construction, Cupertino Electric served in a design/assist capacity installing extensive site, landscaping and sign lighting, as well as fire alarms, communications wiring and fiber optic cable. We installed complete surveillance and security systems backed-up by un-interruptible power sources. Because the on-site central plant was backed-up by a generator, the casino will never lose power.
